All the pieces in this collection start as hand-stitched cotton twine, each one designed and constructed individually. They are sewn and shaped then soaked in liquid porcelain. As they dry, they are further coaxed into expressive gestures, often with clay slabs added for solid bottoms. The cotton fiber acts as a transitory armature which then burns completely away in the kiln. The remaining fully-vitrified porcelain version is light and strong, retaining the delightful touchability of the handknit surface.
