Now here’s some real fun with clay: make knitted objects that respond, echo, nestle or otherwise become a part of the art. In these pieces, sometimes the knitted objects take the lead, sometimes they play equally with the clay forms and sometimes the ceramic piece is the favored star. In all cases, what we have here is a confluence of visual delight. It seems most often the ceramic piece contains or supports the knitted food or flower, but that makes sense, no? It’s a fascinating conversation regardless and a completely natural one, whether the works “find” each other or are specifically created as a unit.
